The Japanese Grand Prix is an FF1M race that has been part of the calendar since the first season. Every race has been held at the Suzuka circuit with the exception of 2007, which was held at the Fuji Speedway. That particular race was won by Lewis Hamilton, who has taken the most Japanese Grand Prix wins with five. FJR hold the most team wins with five, all of which came during the Canon era. In the classic format, the Japanese Grand Prix has hosted races since 1987, all at the Suzuka circuit.
The 2008 and 2009 races were held on an amalgamated version of Suzuka with the 2003 130R and Casio chicane while Esses were from the 2000 layout. The 1996 and 1998 race ran with a modified pitlane entry which bypassed Casio.
