Born in Zhuhai, Tse's family had a sporting background as his mother played tennis semi-professionally and currently owns a nearby sports centre, while his father played football for Guangzhou FC before a shoulder injury cut his career short. Neither parent was particularly interested in motor-racing, but when it was announced that FF1M would visit China for the first time in 2004, the Tse family took a trip to Shanghai to watch the race, which was won by Shannon's Vitantonio Liuzzi. Genjo's parents fell in love with the sport and decided to put all their efforts in for their son to become a racing driver. Apparently, Genjo took some convincing, but once he got into a go-kart, he was immediately and blisteringly quick.
Tse competed in the 2012 FF4M SEA championship and finished 2nd in the championship behind the dominant Cooper Lee. This was in spite of a two race suspended ban after a collision with Zikri Yang at Sepang led to a punch-up at the side of the circuit. This made his performance at what was effectively a home race at Shanghai particularly impressive after taking pole position, fastest lap, and the win.
Although he wasn't signed to an FF1M team's driver academy, Tse took part in the 2013 FF3M season where he partnered fellow FF4M rival Itsuki Yoshida at the Typhoon Racecraft team. Both drivers got along well with each other and it translated into the racing, with Tse and Yoshida winning both races at the opening meeting. Ultimately, Tse had the measure over his teammate as he took a further four wins including a magnificent double at Macau to win the championship
Tse will take part in the 2014 FF2M season with the Ajay Motorsports team, where he will once again be partnered by Yoshida. Tse qualified an impressive 5th for the first feature race of the season, and had an even better race to finish 2nd behind teammate Yoshida. Unlike the previous two seasons, it was Yoshida who outscored and outperformed Tse, although the Chinese driver managed to take a victory in the sprint race during the Monza meeting. He would be signed by Willows Jnr. for the 2014-15 Asia series
After his FF3M success, Tse was quickly signed by Horizon as one of their test drivers for the 2014 FF1M season. He took part in the young drivers test at Interlagos after the 2013 season had finished. He was 10th quickest in the morning session but improved massively in the afternoon when the teams switched to the 2014 engines to jump up to 2nd.
Tse only took part in the second Imola session during pre-season testing for the 2014 season, but he was a remarkable 3rd quickest on the hard tyres, just four tenths behind Lewis Hamilton. He also participated in both practice sessions for the Chinese Grand Prix and was in the top ten both times.
