FF2M is the feeder series of FF1M.
The series (then called FF1M-3000) was formed for the 1997 FF1M season.
The format was conceived by Ajayrious and since the 2006 FF2M Season has been based on the real life GP2 Series.
Designed to make racing affordable for the teams and to make it the perfect training ground for life in FF1M, FF2M has made it mandatory for all of the teams to use the same chassis, engine and tyre supplier so that true driver ability is reflected. All races will take place as support races at FF1M race weekends to boost the series' profile, to give drivers experience on the Grand Prix environment, and to take advantage of the infrastructure (marshalls, medical facilities etc.) in place for a FF1M event. All races of the main series are held on European circuits, however, since 2004 an Asian winter series has been in operation.
Series Specification
The GP2 Series car is to be used by all of the teams, and features a Dallara chassis powered by a V8 Renault engine and Pirelli tyres.
Teams

Most FF2M teams are B teams of FF1M teams however the field is made up of teams controlled by the series organisers based on real life GP2 teams.
Drivers
Drivers in FF2M are picked from the same list as FF1M. The Driver Draft takes place during FF1M's pre season testing.
Race weekend
On Friday, drivers have a 30-minute qualifying session. The qualifying session decides the grid order for Saturday's race which has a length of 180 kilometres.
During Saturday's race, each driver has to make one pit stop for tyres. This can be taken at any time from lap 2 to the penultimate lap of the race.
On Sunday there is a sprint race of 120 kilometres. The grid is decided by the Saturday result with top 8 being reversed, so the driver who finished 8th on Saturday will start from pole position and the winner will start from 8th place.
Point system
From 2006, the series has used the following points system.

- Fastest lap: 1 point in each race.
With this points system, the most number of points anyone can score in one round is 20 by claiming pole position, winning both races with the fastest lap in each race.
Old Points System
The Points System in FF2M before 2006 was not designed to provide a close championship. Instead it was designed to give the maximum amount of Development Points to drivers to help them improve ready for a move to the main series.
Points were awarded to the top 10 classified finishers and the holders of Pole Position and Fastest Race Lap.

Prize Money
At the end of each season prize money is awarded to the top three finishers in the Drivers Championship and the top six finishers in the Teams Championship.
