The series (then called FF1M-3000) was formed for the 1997 FF1M season and has just completed second season and currently runs on the Friday of all European FF1M events and is set to have its own dedicated events next season.

The series reigning champion is Jarno Trulli.

Rules

Teams

Main Article : FF2M Teams

Most FF2M teams are controlled by the series organisers. However from Season 2 onwards outside competitors such as FF1M teams may enter teams into FF2M.

Drivers

Drivers in FF1M-3000 are picked from the same list as FF1M. The Driver Draft takes place during FF1M's pre season testing.

Engines

There is a single engine supplier in FF1M. For the first 2 seasons it was Mugen Honda, however from Season 3 onwards Renault will provide engines.

Currently Engines are limited to 600BHP.

Race Weekend

FF1M-3000's Qualifying and Race Sessions all take place on the Friday of the FF1M event at which the series is supporting. It is currently planned however that there will be several stand alone races in the future with Qualifying and Race sessions spread over 2 days as a normal FF1M event would.

Qualifying is a 20 minute session where each entrant has a single lap to set their time, but they are allowed to freely exit the pits at any time.

Race's are held over 40% of the standard FF1M race distance. One pitstop must be taken during the race in between the 2nd and penultimate laps.

Points System

The Points System in FF2M is not designed to provide a close championship. Instead it is designed to give the maximum amount of Development Points to drivers to help them improve ready for a move to the main series.

Aswell as points for finishing position as shown below a point is also given for Fastest Lap and Pole Position
