Classic History[]
1993[]
CBA's first season was 1993 as one of three brand new teams alongside Gooma Engineering and Tildesley GP. To ensure that the new teams could stand a chance amongst the established teams, the AFIA granted them double technology development for the quizzes, and CBA's knowledge meant that they were competitive come the first race where Barrichello took a fine 4th, followed by podiums at Donington and Monaco. Series returnee Alessandro Zanardi started off slowly, but gained his feet at Montreal where he put in a mature drive to finish 2nd. He followed this up with three more podiums including a maiden win at Spa, while Barrichello took his first win at Monza despite a first lap incident leaving him way down the order. Heading into the final race at Adelaide, CBA's competitiveness meant that Barrichello had a good chance to win the championship, while Zanardi was an outside shot. The championship should've gone to Barrichello after the Brazilian dominated the entire race, but he amazingly crashed out with just two and a half laps remaining. Zanardi took over the lead and despite being nine points behind going into the meeting, he incredibly overhauled that gap to become the drivers champion. It was the perfect redemption after being dropped midway through 1992.
