Overview

The 2011 FF2M Season will be the 14th Season of FF2M and the sixth to run the GP2 Series rules introduced from the 2006 seasonThis season will see FF2M merge with its sister series FF2M Asia resulting in an expanded season with additional races taking place across Asia and the Middle East.

For the first time since the GP2 Series rules were introduced, the previous low downforce FF2M chassis will be replaced by a brand new car, the FF2M/11, built by Italian racing car manufacturer Dallara and designed to have increased downforce and grip. The series also announced a change of tyre rules with teams having to decide which of the weekends two races they would use a new softer tyre supplied by Pirelli.

The series will also adopt a new points system for the feature race, with points awarded to the top ten drivers and twenty-five points on offer for victory. The points awarded in the sprint race are also changed, with the winner receiving fifteen points and top eight drivers receiving points. The points awarded for pole position and the fastest lap of the race will be doubled as well.

Championship standings

Scoring system

Points are awarded to the top 10 classified finishers in the Feature race, and to the top 8 classified finishers in the Sprint race. The pole-sitter in the feature race also receives four points, and two points are given to the driver who sets the fastest lap in both the feature and sprint races. No extra points are awarded to the pole-sitter in the sprint race.
