The 1987 Australian Grand Prix was the tenth and final race of the 1987 FF1M Season.
Report[]
For the second consecutive season, it was championship showdown galore at Adelaide with Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna battling for the drivers championship, their respective teams battling for the teams championship with an outside shot for Darkfire, and Honda and Ferrari competing for the Engine Trophy. As Prost was leading the drivers championship, he was in best shape for back-to-back titles, but in the race, it wasn’t meant to be as he retired, paving the way for Senna to win and take his first drivers championship. This also helped Gui Racing to their first teams championship as they beat MRD Racing by four points. As for the rest of the field, Thierry Boutsen finished 2nd in the race, which was enough for the Belgian to finish best of the rest in the drivers championship. Berger ended his difficult season on a high with 3rd, while Stefan Johansson, Riccardo Patrese, and Teo Fabi completed the points finishers. As for the Engine Trophy, a Honda 1-2 assured them of victory against Ferrari.
